Secret Hamper delivers a further 70 #ThankYouNHS hampers, this time to the staff at Colchester Hospital

We delivered more thank yous earlier this week when we surprised staff at their 4th Hospital, Colchester.
As before the hampers are made up of high end snacks from local companies, Retro Corn Popcorn, Shaken Udder Milkshakes, Fairfield Farm Crisps and Tiptree Patisserie.

This delivery was a little different as there was a family who had recently experienced the expertise of the amazing staff first hand within the A&E dept.

This delivery was really quite special, a family had heard of our initiative to bring businesses and individuals together to show their appreciation for the unsung heroes of our NHS and recognise 70 years of care. Earlier this year Sandra Wrathall suffered an Aortic Dissection which could have been fatal if it wasn’t for the fact that the brilliant Dr Abbas hadn’t been on duty at the time.

Dr Abbas had recently completed a dissertation on Aortic Dissection and immediately recognised the symptoms. Mrs Wrathall was blue lighted to Papworth Hospital with minutes to spare and given just a 30% chance of survival.
Thankfully the incredibly complex life saving surgery was a success and Sandra is on her way to a full recovery today.
Sandra and her family loved the idea of the Secret Hamper initiative and as a family raised enough funds for 40 hampers.

We met Sarah and her mum Sandra and was blown away by their generous gesture, it just goes to show you cannot put a price on a life. It was so humbling to be able to provide a platform that this family could show their gratitude, it’s a day we’ll remember for a very long time.

The remaining 30 hampers were sponsored by local companies from in and around the Colchester area, including Integro, SVC, G&B Finch, Five Lakes Resort, Evo Supplies, Universal Web Design, Ultimotive, P&A Wood, Jelf, Crisp Design, Kingswood Group, KG Moore, Frederick Charles Wealth Management, The Mulberry Spa, Dewis Health.

Once again we were overwhelmed by the diversity of the businesses that wished to show their gratitude, we can see from the reactions from the staff at how touched they are and we’re sure that it helps brighten their day.

We now hope to be able to deliver more thank yous to staff at Southend, Basildon, Harlow and Romford Hospitals, to show your appreciation please visit for full details
