On Saturday 1st September Secret Hamper attended our 3rd PupAid event in Primrose Hill, London.

PupAid is now one of the world’s biggest anti-puppy farming events which is in it’s 7th year in London. This years event was made extra special after PupAid founder and TV vet Marc Abraham spent over a year campaigning and visits to Westminster to launch #LucysLaw campaign to bring an end to puppy farming.

On the 22nd August it was reported in the national press that this ban will be implemented by DEFRA in the next few months. This landmark announcement would be the first major step to tackle puppy farming that the UK’s ever seen. Huge congratulations to Mark, his PupAid team, volunteers and celeb supporters.

This year we took our own pooch along for the day, Betsie the Beagle. Betsie has had a tough start to life as a couple of months ago, aged just 10 months she was struck down with an aggressive form of meningitis. Fortunately our vet was on the case early on and  along with advice from Marc, Betsie was diagnosed quickly at the Small Animal Trust in Newmarket.

The flipside is that Betsie now has 18 months of chemotherapy ahead, but we are sure with a nutritious diet and plenty of love she will make a full recovery.

Betsie met lots of familiar faces at the event and even entered herself into a couple of competitions, one of which was Childs Best Friend where she came in 5th place, well done Bets!

We supplied a prize for the Best in Show category which was presented in our gift box range which contained organic healthy treats from Waggie Tails Gourmet Dog Treats, a bottle of Pawsecco and some toys. We also presented Marc with one of our personalised gin gift boxes to celebrate his successful event, hard work and recent announcement with #LucysLaw.

We can’t wait until next years event, who knows, we may even see you there!
